How to prepare your case for your solicitor

In order to be able to give you accident advice, a solicitor will ask you a series of questions and request documentation and information at your initial consultation including :

  • Your personal details such as your full name and current address, date of birth and marital status
  • Complete history of employment and educational background
  • Driving experience and license details
  • Vehicle insurance details including a copy of the policy
  • Date, time and location of the accident
  • Light and weather conditions at the time of the accident
  • Details of the location including name of the street, direction of travel, type and width of the road, curves, lanes of traffic and speed limit

  • Full details of all hospitals attended including addresses and departmental references and all documentation to prove all medical expenses incurred
  • Names and professional addresses of all of all treating doctors
  • Details of prospective future treatment
  • Details of employment at the time of the accident, periods off work, necessary changes in duties following return to work and any loss of income
  • Details of all costs and expenses associated with the accident. All invoices or receipts should be retained in order to prove the losses
  • Your solicitor will request photographs of the accident location, damage to the vehicles and of the injury.
